Globe - Ayala Run For Home 2010

Last Sunday, my wife and I once more joined another marathon and this time its with Globe and Ayala's Run For Home 2010. The race's beneficiary is the Habitat For Humanity where Ayala had donated 1 Million pesos.

The race was held in Ayala Center where the start line set up in front of the Ayala Tower One along Ayala Avenue. We took the 3Km race this time and our race gun start was around 545am but we were there in the area around 5am where we have seen the earlier races start. There was 3Km, 5Km, 10Km, 15Km and 21Km runs.

The 3Km track was from Ayala Avenue, we turn left on Paseo de Roxas and left once more on De La Rosa Street and right turn on Legaspi St at the corner of Greenbelt. Then we turn left on Greenbelt Drive where we all run down a ramp through an underpass that pass below the mall and run up the ramp once more. Next we turned left to the road between Greenbelt and Renaissance Hotel. And once more turned left on Makati Avenue upto the corner of Ayala where we turn a right and run upto the corner of 6750 Bldg where we did a U-Turn and once more turn right on Makati Ave for our last stretch. On Paseo De Roxas we turn left where I saw the finish line and took the run for it. Other races led runners through Kalayaan Avenue up to Bonifacio Global City.

It was a great run and it was fun but I'd say the Superbods Run a month ago was more exciting due to the wide area in Bonifacio Global City for running and there were more freebies. Plus there were not many celebrities during this run.

My record for this run is 308th among the 3K runners with the time of 00:19:14.

Century Tuna's Superbods Run 2010

Last Sunday, my wife and I joined Century Tuna's Superbods Run 2010 held at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. This has been Century Tuna's second Superbod Run and this time it is the first leg of RunRio which is a running trilogy of Coach Rio de la Cruz, a running coach who have pioneered previous runs already like the Timex Run. About a month before the race, we registered at the Nike Store in Bonifacio High Street, where we got a free singlet for the said event plus a chip for our shoe to track our running record. Since this was our very first time to join a marathon such as this, we were both excited. Two other friends joined us in the race, July and Lhey, who both took the 3KM race like my wife. I took the 5KM track. Other races are for 10 and 21KM.

And so at 5am of February 21st, we all met in EDSA and altogether drove to the race venue. When we parked, the race for the 21KM has already began and it seems the 10KM run has already started also. So I went ahead of the three ladies and arrived at the race start where a bunch of 5Km and 3Km runners have packed up already. Apparently, late runners for the 10 and 21Km had trouble getting through the crowd to start their race.

Before the race began, the Superbods initiated a warm up session on a stage just beside the starting line. I was not able to do much warm up anymore as it was already too crowded. Just a few minutes before the race starts, actor Derek Ramsey and actress Iza Calzado went in front of the pack for some photo sessions. They both disappeared later when the race began.

And so at 520am, the race began. Our route takes us from the starting line at the 28th Street then right on 11th Avenue and another right on 26th Street all the way to 5th Avenue where we took a left turn then going straight past the McKinley Road and turned left on 21st Drive behind the Essensa Towers. Moving further we run in front of the American Cemetery then to the 8th Avenue where we took a U-Turn on the Mid-Checkpoint to turn the run back on 21st Drive and 5th Avenue. From 5th Avenue, we run through the length of it until we reached 32nd Street where we took a right and then another right on 7th Avenue for our last stretch when we reached the Finish Line on 28th Street again.

It was a long run where I felt my lungs bursting but it was very fulfilling reaching the Finish Line. It was a great one for a first timer like us. Oh and after the race, we all went to the go-see area where there were aspirants modeling for a spot to be this years Superbod endorser. And a lot of freebies where given to runners, plus we had all the chance to have a picture with different celebrities who attended the event, like Rovilson Fernandez, John Avila, Rafael Rosell, Gloria Diaz, Victor Basa, Karylle, Iza Calzado, Marc Nelson, and others.

Just saw the results of the race, I arrived at the finish line with a total time of 00:38:24 rank 771 from total of 1890 5Km male runners, or 1017th overall ranking for the combined 5Km runners (male and female).
